A feature on founder and CEO Jim Kirk highlights the creative journey that helped transform decades of experience in music, broadcasting, and storytelling into one of the live events industry’s most respected creative agencies.
DALLAS, Texas — March 2, 2015 — Corporate Magic founder, owner, and CEO James R. Kirk was recently featured for his unique career journey from award-winning music producer and creative director to one of the corporate events industry’s most respected creative leaders.
Long before founding Corporate Magic, Kirk built a reputation in the music and broadcast industries. Early in his career, he created and produced music for nationally syndicated programs including American Top 40 and American Country Countdown, while also composing jingles and promotional scores for Coca-Cola, the Boy Scouts of America, as well as radio and television stations around the world.

His creative work attracted the attention of Roy Disney, who recruited Kirk in 1975 to serve as Creative Director for TM Productions. During his tenure, Kirk created and produced more than 6,500 commercials, station identifications, and promotional campaigns, helping shape the sound of radio and television stations across the country.
As the advertising and broadcasting industries evolved, Kirk recognized an opportunity to apply the same principles of storytelling, emotion, and audience connection to a different medium: live experiences.
That vision ultimately led to the creation of Corporate Magic, a Dallas-based creative agency and event production company known for helping organizations communicate important messages through meetings, celebrations, brand experiences, and large-scale public events.
Today, Corporate Magic serves many of the world’s most recognized brands and organizations, including Berkshire Hathaway, IBM, Kraft, Jaguar, and Land Rover. The company has also produced major public events such as the opening of AT&T Stadium, the welcoming ceremony for the 2012 Republican National Convention, and the 50th Anniversary Celebration of The Music Center and Dorothy Chandler Pavilion in Los Angeles.
Kirk believes the most effective events accomplish far more than delivering information.
“It’s not just the production,” Kirk said. “It’s emotion. It’s intellect. How do you reach people and change their minds? That’s the fun part.”
That philosophy continues to guide Corporate Magic’s work today. Much of the company’s focus involves helping organizations align audiences around new ideas, cultural initiatives, leadership priorities, and strategic goals through carefully crafted live experiences.
“We meet with companies and try to learn what’s really going on,” Kirk said. “That’s the fun part for me, the strategizing and conceptualizing.”
As audience expectations continue to evolve, Kirk sees participation and engagement as essential ingredients for successful events.
“When you’re a part of it, you’re hooked,” Kirk said.
For nearly four decades, Corporate Magic has combined creative strategy, storytelling, production expertise, and audience engagement to create experiences that connect with people on both an emotional and intellectual level. The same creative instincts that helped Kirk shape radio and television audiences continue to influence the company’s approach to live events today.
