Recognized in creative excellence in editorial design, photography, and visual storytelling.

DALLAS, Texas — Corporate Magic is celebrating the national recognition of Design Director Troy Myatt, whose work on the 2025 Frontier Texas Annual Report earned twelve major awards across regional, district, national, and professional design competitions. The achievement reflects Corporate Magic’s commitment to fostering creative growth and encouraging team members to pursue meaningful work beyond their day-to-day responsibilities.

While Myatt’s role at Corporate Magic focuses on brand development, design direction and visual communications for live events and experiences, the Frontier Texas project reflects a philosophy long encouraged within the company: creative professionals become stronger when they continue learning, creating, and exploring opportunities beyond their primary disciplines.

“At Corporate Magic, we encourage our team to remain curious, continue learning, and seek opportunities to expand their craft,” said Jeff Kirk, General Manager of Corporate Magic. “Whether through photography, design, filmmaking, writing, or community involvement, those experiences ultimately make us better creative partners for our clients.”

Created for Frontier Texas, a history museum in downtown Abilene, the award-winning publication combined editorial design, photography, storytelling, and fundraising communications into a single annual report. Conceived, designed, photographed, and produced entirely in Texas by Myatt, the publication brought to life the people, places, and experiences that shaped the Texas frontier while helping the museum exceed its fundraising goals.

The project first earned three Gold ADDY Awards and the competition’s Judges Choice Award at the Dallas American Advertising Awards before advancing to the American Advertising Federation District 10 competition, where it received two Silver ADDY Awards among entries from Texas, Arkansas, Louisiana, and Oklahoma.

Additional recognition followed at Dallas Show 57, presented by the Dallas Society of Visual Communications, where the publication received two Bronze Bulb Awards recognizing excellence in publication design and photography.

Most recently, the work earned three Gold Medals from the Society of Publication Designers (SPD) during the organization’s 61st Annual Awards presentation in New York City. Considered one of the most respected editorial design competitions in the world, SPD recognizes excellence in editorial design and photography and is judged by an international panel of creative directors, editors, designers, and photographers.

The publication’s cover story, “William Reese,” received Gold Medals in both Design: Independent Publishing – Cover and Design: Cover, Non-Celebrity Profile. A third Gold Medal was awarded for the portrait “Chief Broken Eagle.”

The recognition placed Frontier Texas alongside some of the most respected editorial publications in America, including National Geographic, The New Yorker, Texas Monthly, Fast Company, Outside, The Bitter Southerner, Poetry Magazine, and Serviette.

The photographs recognized by SPD were created during Living History Days at Fort Griffin State Historic Site near Albany, Texas. The annual event brings together historical interpreters and living history professionals from across Texas who help preserve and share the stories, skills, and experiences of nineteenth-century frontier life.

For Corporate Magic, the awards represent more than individual achievement. They reflect the value of cultivating creative talent across multiple disciplines and encouraging team members to pursue meaningful projects outside traditional event production.

“The same skills that create compelling publications, photography, and storytelling are the skills that help create stronger audience experiences,” said Kirk. “When our people continue to grow as creative professionals, our clients benefit from that experience.”

Over the years, Myatt has contributed to a wide range of Corporate Magic projects spanning live events, brand experiences, strategic communications, broadcast productions, photography, and visual storytelling initiatives. The Frontier Texas project demonstrates how creative pursuits outside the events industry can sharpen design thinking, strengthen storytelling, and bring fresh perspectives back to the work Corporate Magic delivers for its clients.
