FORT A.P. HILL, Virginia — September 11, 2024 — Corporate Magic produced the arena shows for the 100th Anniversary National Scout Jamboree, a landmark celebration that brought more than 72,000 Scouts and leaders to Fort A.P. Hill, Virginia.

Commissioned by Scouting America, formerly the Boy Scouts of America, the centennial event was designed to honor Scouting’s legacy while reinforcing its relevance for a new generation. Corporate Magic was selected to create a large-scale live experience that would celebrate the organization’s history, inspire attendees, and reach audiences far beyond the arena through streaming and media coverage.

The project presented extraordinary logistical and creative challenges. Fort A.P. Hill, an active U.S. Army installation located between Washington, D.C. and Richmond, was not built with the infrastructure required for an event of this scale. The arena site had no existing water, electricity, or permanent facilities, requiring Corporate Magic to help build the production environment from the ground up.

Led by Jim Kirk, Corporate Magic spent two years planning the arena shows in close coordination with Scouting America, military officials, contractors, production partners, and technical teams. The company oversaw the creation of temporary infrastructure, including essential utilities, power distribution, water systems, staging, scenic structures, video support, audio systems, and large-scale show production elements.

The arena shows served as the centerpiece of the Jamboree. Corporate Magic collaborated with Alford Media on audio and video support and worked with GoVision to deliver a massive 60-foot-tall portable LED screen, along with two 18-by-32-foot LED video walls that ensured strong visibility across the large outdoor arena.

The celebration featured performances by Switchfoot and Honor Society, along with appearances by Miss America Caressa Cameron, Dirty Jobs host Mike Rowe, and U.S. Secretary of Defense Robert Gates. The program also included military flyovers, aerial jumps from multiple branches of the armed forces, custom video segments, original music composed by Corporate Magic, and a live stage performance featuring 400 Scouts.

The technical scale of the production reflected the ambition of the centennial celebration. Corporate Magic’s team erected seven scenic towers stretching 395 feet across the stage. The full installation included 17,296 structural parts and 20 miles of cable, along with what was permitted as the largest theatrical fireworks display ever staged on a military installation.

By transforming an undeveloped arena site into a fully functional production environment, Corporate Magic helped create a celebration that honored Scouting’s first century while giving attendees a powerful sense of pride, energy, and connection to the organization’s future.
